Our Decking Materials

When it comes to building a new deck, it can be one of the biggest decisions for your house. In addition to thinking about the right design and cost of the patio, one also needs to figure out the best deck material for your patio.

Here is a list of some of the most common and popular deck materials that will help you bring out the best in your home:

  • Pressure Treated Decking
For over 60 years, the pressure treated lumber has been one of the best choices for Canadians. This type of wood is affordable and readily available in the market. Lumber is treated chemically and makes it resistant to insect damage and rot. It is a strong wood, but more prone to swelling and splitting. You need to ash it annually and sanding is required occasionally.

  • Cedar Decking
It is a western softwood and naturally resistant to rot. There are different levels of grade and price points. This also needs to be power washed and treated yearly.

  • Exotic Decking
Homeowners who love exotic feel and look of real wood decking will love this material. It is durable and extremely dense, but can also be expensive. Make sure that the materials are authentically sourced.

  • Composite Decking
This is number one choice of decking material for Canadians. Composite decking comprises of wood fibers and recycled plastic, which results in a natural wooden material. It is splinter free and won’t rot. It looks and feel like real wood, without a negative impact on the environment.

  • PVC Decking
This is 100% manmade material from recycled products. It is scratch-resistant and tends not to feel hot during the summers. People tend to prefer composite wood due to the natural feel and appeal of the wood.
